We are so excited today to launch our new HATS OF HOPE initiative. Get your knitting needles, crochet hooks, or sewing machines ready and let’s make some hats to remind MPs of the humanity of pre-born children!
If you’ve been a supporter for awhile, you may remember our popular Booties for Babies effort a few years ago. Thousands of pairs of baby booties were sent to Ottawa by our supporters, and we were able to do a moving display on Parliament Hill alongside a press conference.
Like that initiative, the Hats of Hope campaign engages your crafty side! We are asking you to knit, crochet, or sew a baby hat to bring a tangible humanity to the lives of pre-born children.
Make and send a baby hat to your member of Parliament in memory of a child lost to abortion. Send a message with the hat letting your MP know how deeply you care about the issue of abortion and calling on them to protect pre-born children. Ask your representative to donate the hat to a hospital or pregnancy care centre in their area.
You can download a printable tag to go with your hat, or write your own message!
We need to continually connect the word abortion with the loss of real human life. Handmade hats are a beautiful way to do so while also blessing a baby who is allowed to be born.
Share this action item far and wide! Let’s get everyone we know knitting so our leaders cannot ignore all the small hats arriving at their offices, hats made in the hope of a better future for pre-born children in Canada.
Start by sending a hat to your own MP, but if you are able to make or collect more than one hat, send additional hats to any other MP! You can email us for a list of MPs and we will work our way through all 338 of our representatives to ensure everyone is receiving hats. Every single one of our leaders needs to be reminded that pre-born children are valuable human beings who need protection.
Visit our Hats of Hope webpage to find a free crochet pattern, a tool to look up your MP, and more. Email us ([email protected]) with what riding you’re knitting in or how many hats you are sending – and we love when you send photos too! Share your work and tag us on social media (@weneedalaw) so we can see and share hats of hope making their way to MPs from all across the country.
